Governance Is Due Everyday

Rent is due every month.
But governance is due every single day.

I was doing a part-time sales job when I was in Uni.

The KPI was 3 sales.

Some days I sold fifteen.

Some days one.

Sometimes none.

But I would maintain the KPI for my weekly sales.

That’s what mattered.

One thing that sales taught me was no matter how good you perform today, tomorrow you are starting from zero.

The lesson hasn’t changed.

It’s relevant for governance in cybersecurity.

Technology evolves.

Governance sticks.

That’s why good governance outlives good technology.

AI changes the technology.

And the way we work and think.

But it doesn’t change the need for governance.

It was due back then.

And it’s due today as well.

Governance is not like one-off tuxedo that you wear for the event.

It’s like your casual jeans and T-shirt that wear and show up every day.

Rent is due every month.

Governance is due tomorrow morning.
