A Filipino student didn’t have money to pay for his Internet service. So, he created the “I Love You” worm using VBscript, a malicious code to steal the passwords for Internet accounts.
The Lovebug that started in 2000 leveraged vulnerability in Windows 95 to run code in an email attachment. It ended up impacting over 50 million Windows personal computers across the globe. Interestingly, there were no laws in the Philippines for writing malware at the time of creation.
The last traces from 2020 confirmed that the malware creator now works in a mobile repair shop in Manilla. Here is my sketch attempt to portray the proposal from worm to Windows.
